Letter from the Principal

Welcome to St. Dominic Catholic School!

As a the principal of St. Dominic School, I am committed to working with parents, students, our community, and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis to create a school where the values of our mission are present in all that we do – inspiring children to excel as confident leaders, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens in a Catholic, values-based, community.

As a teacher and principal in both Catholic and public education, I understand just how important a Catholic education is, especially right now, as popular culture is often at odds with our Catholic faith and values we hold so dear.  It is exceedingly important that we cultivate and nurture our Catholic faith in Catholic Schools to ensure our next generation will be practicing, faithful  Catholics and virtuous citizens in service to family and country.  Coming home to St. Dominic School is especially important to me now as I can fully appreciate the opportunity to fully integrate my faith and profession as one seamless garment…it is truly a blessing and a gift.

As  an alumna of St. Dominic School and Catholic colleges for both my bachelors degree and my post graduate work, I am very proud to be part of Catholic education as a principal once more.   While St. Dominic students consistently perform above average on formal assessments, we pride ourselves on providing a unique and tailored educational experience that supports students in reaching their potential. In the areas of curriculum and academics, we employ research-based and engaging learning activities to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all learners and preparing our students for their future. This is the foundation for reaching our ultimate goal of guiding students in the development of their intellectual and spiritual character, as well as, helping them find and nurture their God-given gifts and talents to share with the world.

As principal of this exceptional school, it is my role to ensure that the professional development of our teachers enhances our curriculum through ongoing implementation of new educational methods and materials. Our smaller class sizes, coupled with our passionate, dedicated teachers, allow us to truly personalize learning for all students of St. Dominic School.

I invite you to browse our website and to contact us at office@schoolofstdominic.org or (507)645-8136 for additional information or to schedule a tour.

Welcome to St. Dominic School and thank you for your ongoing support of Catholic education.

Blessings,

Shawn Dudley
Principal
