What is the Service-a-thon? Each year, St. Dominic School joins hundreds of other Catholic schools throughout the country in an annual fundraising Marathon. The purpose is twofold: to show the community what “forming servant leaders” looks like and to raise money in support of our school’s mission: inspiring students to excel as confident leaders, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens. This year, we listened to YOUR feedback, and we have changed things up! Our school will partake in a “Service-a-Thon.” This opportunity lets us come together as a community, to help each other, and celebrate our school. Join us as we enjoy camaraderie with friends and raise money for our academic programs. When community members see our mission in action through the school and students’ service, they desire to support the faith-based formation our school offers.
How does the Service-a-thon work? Just like past years with the Marathon, our Service-a-thon is one of St. Dominic School’s main fundraising events. The funds raised from this year’sMarathon will go towards educational enhancements. This year, our school goal is to raise $25,000. With everyone’s participation, we can achieve this goal! Our Service-a-thon runs from Tuesday, January 28 through February 14. Throughout this time, individual students and families are encouraged to perform service projects of your choosing. Students should complete 10 acts of service, and we encourage students to complete even more! All families are welcome to send in photos to Kati Reak, email@example.com, and have your students talk about their acts of service during Morning Meeting! We will share these stories of service each week on the school’s Facebook page (@schoolofstdominic).
Additionally, we will come together for a large Community Service Project on Friday, February 14, to show the love to our community. Parents are encouraged to participate that day alongside students! As students are out in the community performing service projects, this is the perfect time to ask neighbors, extended family, and friends for financial gifts to honor their work and to support our school’s unique faith-based mission. Families are encouraged to create flyers, send emails, or connect with supporters in whatever creative means you wish. Students are offered many fun incentives for their good deeds! All donations are 100% tax-deductible, with proceeds directly supporting the school’s mission.
