COVID-19 Update No. 7 from Mrs. Marvin

Dear St. Dominic Families,

We have had two good days at school this week! If you walked into the building right now, you could feel a strong sense of normalcy… I can hear students laughing and playing in phy ed right now! I am very grateful to the staff for working so hard to comfort anxieties but also to put their best foot forward to give the children the stability everyone is craving.

As a reminder, schools will close on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, through at least the end of spring break. This is a time for students and families to engage in social distancing and follow the strategies to slow the spread of COVID-19 as recommended by the Minnesota Department of Health.
At this time, the plan by the governor is to return to school after spring break. St. Dominic School (and the Northfield District) are scheduled to return with students on Tuesday, March 31. It will be at that time that students would begin distance learning should the governor extend the order.
Teachers will be meeting Thursday and Friday to work on plans to implement distance learning. We will also be preparing iPads and other materials that will be available to pick up or have delivered after spring break, should the need arise.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we are all moving through uncharted waters. We will continue to provide more information as we prepare and as we receive updates. Know that we are praying for our entire community and will miss all of our families. You will be close to our hearts through this challenging time. Please reach out if there is anything we can do to help.
Sincerely,
Vicki Kalina Marvin
Principal
