April 23, 2020: COVID-19 Update from Mrs. Marvin

Dear St. Dominic Families,

This afternoon, Governor Walz announced that the Distance Learning Period will extend for the rest of the 2019-20 school year. As previously planned, student instruction will not be held on May 1 and May 4. These days will remain as planning days to prepare for the remainder of the school calendar year in a distance learning environment.
With this announcement, come several more questions and the work to determine the most appropriate answers. A few of these include: When will families be able to pick up remaining items from school? How will we honor our 8th grade graduates? What process will we use to collect student technology? We are considering several possible answers to these and other questions and will ultimately make decisions that are in compliance with the governor’s orders.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We know this announcement is difficult to hear, and as a school, we are very sad that we will not be able to bring the children back to close our school year. As we move forward, we will continue to evaluate all components of distance learning and will be seeking feedback from both parents and students in the coming days.
Please know we understand families are facing many challenges with distance learning and the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to pray for all of you and want to help in any way if possible. Please reach out at any time and above all else, take care of yourself and your families.
Sincerely,
Vicki Kalina Marvin
Principal
