Middle School STEM

STEM Education

The STEM program for our middle school is something that happens on a daily basis! Our middle school students (grades 5-8) visit the STEM Lab/Maker Space at least 2-3 times per week, and this in addition to STEM that happens in the classroom. We introduce the concepts of science, technology, engineering, and math through a curriculum that focuses on:

  • Food and consumer science projects
  • Media formats such as movie apps, green screen, and animation
  • Coding and robotics programs that build upon skill sets introduced at the elementary level
  • Digital citizenship will be reinforced as a foundation for communication with staff and the greater community

Resources

Beyond the support of our school families, our STEM Lab would not be possible without the professional development, support and grant funding of Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE) and Minnesota Independent School Forum (MISF), Engineering Is Elementary (eie.org), Code.org professional development, donations from Hess Corporation, and STEM-focused programs developed by St. Thomas University. We are grateful for our partnerships with these organizations as they allow our students to expand their way of thinking allowing them to do great things!
