7th & 8th Grade

8th Grade April:
Students presented their Tellagamis today to All the other classes about their mission trip. It was cool to see the characters they chose to represent themselves. They also did a great job presenting their Old Testament Prophet Projects this week.

One of the Geography Standards is on World Religions. Each student chose a different Religion to present. These are a large part of their 4th quarter grades and are due on MAY 1st. They each have a rubric to follow.

We have started increasing our time spent on the play, but it has been extremely difficult getting through many of the scenes when students STILL DO NOT HAVE their lines memorized. It makes me nervous for them and wastes the time of those who are doing awesome with their lines. They will be receiving half of their points for the grade tomorrow and the other half will be given when the play is complete. If you could have your child recite their lines for you, that would be great! Reminder that the play is on May 25 at 1:00 and 7pm

We are doing are spring MAP testing next week on Monday and Friday. A good nights rest is always helpful :)

Until June 30th, If you have recycling please consider taking cardboard and paper items to the bins outside of Firehouse Liquors as it supports the 4th grades trip to ELC.

We had a great week as they took on the responsibility of leading the Food Drive. Their Food Drive collected over 500 items and $30! We are delivering the food to the Community Action Center tomorrow morning from 10-10:30. I completely forgot to send home a permission slip so if you could respond to this email that it’s okay for them to go with me and Mrs. Bartho that would be great!

I’m excited to read their essays they turned in for the contest as well as see their history projects tomorrow. We’ve watched Father Mike Schmitz videos on the reasons we fast for lent as well as discussed what the Passion of our Lord really entails. They worked on the Mimes this week too.

I sent home tickets for the omelette breakfast and a link to sign up for selling tickets and working the breakfast that’s on April 9th from 8:30-12:30. If you sign up to sell tickets after mass by tomorrow, I will send the extra tickets with your child otherwise if you need them for next weekend I will leave some in the parish office to be picked up as I’ll be out of town.

If you are interested in a yearbook, order forms were sent home 3 weeks ago but if you need some, I have extra. You can also order online at ybpay.lifetouch.com with ID 10354317.

3/17 8th Grade
We had a great week as they took on the responsibility of leading the Food Drive. Their Food Drive collected over 500 items and $30! The 8th grade helped box everything today but, unfortunately, they will not be able to deliver the items as the CAC wants them delivered in the AM so the 7th grade will be doing that part.

In Geography we spent the week talking about globalization and realized that just in our shirts alone they were manufactured in 9 different countries around the world! We worked on the play and developing character voices. They are doing a fabulous job so far! For Language Arts, I’m excited to read their essays they turned in for the contest.. In Religion, we watched Father Mike Schmitz videos on the reasons we fast for lent as well as discussed what the Passion of our Lord really entails. We will be getting close to finishing our yearbook tomorrow. If you are interested in a yearbook, order forms were sent home 3 weeks ago but if you need some, I have extra. You can also order online at ybpay.lifetouch.com with ID 10354317.

A reminder that the remaining trip balances are due. You can ask me or call Shari for your balance and then turn in the money to Shari in parish office.

We read Enriche’s Journey and worked on our weekly grammar. The 7th graders also presented their Lit Circle projects. A few did great, while others chose not to follow the rubric I sent to them 2 weeks ago. The graded rubric will be coming home on Monday to have a parent initial or sign that they have looked it over. We also worked on our essays for the Scholastic Essay Contest. The essays are due on MONDAY based on one of Jackie Robinsons nine values of Citizenship, Commitment, Courage, Determination, Excellence, Integrity, Justice, and Persistence. The paper is to be 500-1400 words.

We will be starting to work on doing the stations of the cross as Mimes. The Mime Stations are on April 7th at 8:20.

The Eagles Club has agreed to do an Omelette Breakfast to help us fundraise for the trip next year. The breakfast is on April 8th from 8:30-12:30. I will be sending tickets home to sell on Monday. They are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. We get 50% of the ticket sales! 6th grade can help us out too. Students can also sell them after masses. Let me know if you’d like a mass to sell after. We will need 2 adults and 4-5 student volunteers to work the following shifts:

7:30-9:30
9-11
11-1:30 (or until cleaned up)
